My absolute pride and joy! Three years ago I crossed Formby Stacey and Glenmarc Divine, the result is Bilpin Rosie Girl. I’m a very proud dahlia mum and Rosie Girl is the only dahlia in my breeding collection that gets the tick of approval from my mentors. She is a white miniature decorative with sporadic soft pink flushes. Like its parents, expect to see a tall plant (but not leggy) producing copious amounts of blooms on long sturdy stems. I grow her out in an open field and with the atrocious wet summer spoiling the fun, surprisingly, there weren’t too many blooms that had browned off with rain spots or wind burn. This dahlia requires some heat for its petals to blush, by autumn expect to see a neutral white dahlia.
Rosie Girl is royalty free. I would love to see a dahlia that I’ve named after my silly little dog pop up in gardens all around Australia. And sadly, when the original Rosie is no longer with me, her name sake will still be blooming in her memory.
